New images have surfaced online of what is purported to be the Sony Xperia U ST25i. The photos which come via XperiaBlog, show the device (formally codenamed Kumquat) in direct comparison with the recently released Xperia S.
The images reveal a number of key details about the handset, including the continuation of Sony’s Iconic Identity design blueprint complete with transparent bar at the base of the device above which sit the touch sensitive navigation buttons.
Additionally, the comparison images featuring the Xperia U and Xperia S highlight both the stark similarity in form factor between the two devices, as well as confirmating the ST25i’s 3.5-inch screen size.
Interestingly, one image reveals that the Xperia U has a removable battery, something that will no doubt please critics of the sealed battery unit found on the Xperia S.
Other rumoured Xperia U spec details include a 1GHz dual-core CPU, 512MB of RAM and a 5 megapixel rear camera. Android 2.3 is speculated to be the operating system of choice with an upgrade to ICS anticipated soon after release.
Sony is expected to launch the Xperia U at its MWC press conference next Sunday.
